Hospital open Day 20

An HIV positive patients group has been formed, comprising of members from three London HIV Clinics run under the Chelsea & Westminster Foundation Trust - Kobler Clinic and 56 dean Street Clinic (Chelsea & Westminster Hospital), and the Nkosi Johnson Clinic (Charing Cross Hospital).

The Meetings developed out of the Foundation Trust’s requirement to encourage Patient groups to be formed, with the express purpose of building a dialogue between the Foundation Trust and the patients - to whom they were offering it’s services.

Links have already been established with other patient forum groups that have been formed in various Health Trusts in the London area with the purpose of endeavouring to ensure that HIV needs and requirements are represented and voiced at meetings with each HealthTrust.

Projects scheduled to be undertaken by the Forum during 2010 include:

HIV and Ageing - This project will survey patients from all three clinics who are 50yrs of age and older, with a view to gather evidence of ongoing health concerns for a rapidly-aging HIV population and hopefully help to deliver changes in treatment practises to London and the wider UK environment for those of us approaching (or already a part of) the 50+ age group.

Social Events - We are also planning a series of social events for patients giving people the chance to meet other positive people in a safe and non threatening space.

Education Workshops - we will be holding workshops about your HIV and your treatment throughout the year.
