The St Stephen's Volunteers: Working to Support HIV services at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in Fulham,
Dean Street Clinic in Soho and The Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith, London, UK

Our Logo
Hospital open Day 2007

We thought that our ‘star’ logo branding should be emphasized in our posters and publicity and the work that we do explained in an easy and direct way.
To this end we have purchased a banner that pulls up in reverse roller blind style, and explains our services in a modern way (see picture).

New St Stephen's Volunteers Banner

This is displayed in the Kobler Outpatients clinic. It is very mobile, and can be used at any appropriate event. In fact it was first revealed at the volunteers’ annual staff party and will be displayed with our stand at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Trust Open Day on 12th May. We are also designing new signs incorporating the ‘star’ logo for the refreshments bar in the Kobler Clinic and the Information Exchange. The latter will make it clear that the IE is run by our volunteers.

Money Raised

The St Stephen's Volunteers have been donated £1000 in appreciation of their work. £500 was received from the HIV directorate and £500 from the St Stephen's Aids Trust Charity.

We are very grateful for this injection of cash which will help us to achieve our development plans.

The Information Exchange is also expanding! We are purchasing an extra desk which will adjoin the present space. It will have a linked terminal, which will allow us to manage our increased work load and enable us to work more efficiently. We have already bought a new printer that now allows us to print in colour, scan, copy and fax. This is proving very useful for handling the large number of HIV fact sheets that we produce and for many other tasks.

20 years volunteering service with the St Stephen's Volunteers

St Stephen's Volunteer Jean Hunt was invited to Buckingham Palace on 6th December 2007, where Her Majesty the Queen presented her with the MBE medal at the investiture ceremony.
Jean was accompanied by her husband Tony and her two daughters, Laura and Jane. Jean and her family were very impressed by the efficient organization of the event, and the kindness of all those involved.
It was mentioned afterwards that the Queen seemed to chat to Jean for longer than some of the other 90 people who were there that day to collect an award.Perhaps they were swapping cake recipes!
We are delighted that her big day went so well.
The Volunteers are very proud that Jean is now a 'Member of the British Empire'.

St Stephen’s Volunteer Nita Moulder, pictured above has been faithfully serving refreshments for 14 years to HIV+ patients at the Victoria outpatients’ clinic. This Clinic, along with Nkosi Johnson Clinic at Charing Cross and Kobler Clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals, serve the HIV community of West London and beyond.
Nita brings a welcoming and friendly face to the Victoria Clinic on Wednesdays. She says that she really enjoys her work, which is greatly appreciated by patients and staff who she regards as her family.
Nita finds the atmosphere at the Victoria Clinic very friendly and everyone really looks forward to her refreshment service each week. St Stephen’s Volunteers like Nita work away from the main centres of volunteering at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Her invaluable contribution, dedication and commitment deserve recognition and really do make a difference.
Thank you Nita!
